Death of Mrs. Joe FARMER.

A telegram was received in this city yesterday by C. M. McELROY announcing the death of his sister, Mrs. Joseph F. FARMER (sic - Joel F. FARMER), at Kansas City, Mo. The sad news was not unexpected, for MRs. FARMER had been lying critically ill from inflammatory rheumatism in a hospital in that city for several days past. Deceased was the daughter of William and Helen McELROY, and was born in Muscatine county in 1860. The family afterwards lived in Muscatine and Des Moines, coming to Fairfield in 1879. Nellie was married here to Mr. FARMER, and four children were born to them, three of whom, the eldest a son of eleven years, are now living. The family made its home here for several years, but has more recently resided in Omaha, Neb., and Kansas City. Mrs. FARMER was a teacher in the schools of Muscatine county for some time and was also engaged in school work in this city for several years prior to her marriage. She was a bright and intelligent woman and had a great many friends among her associates in the schools and in social life. Those who knew her in this city will learn of her death with deep regret. The remains will be interred in this city, arriving here this evening. Mr. FARMER and Misses Hattie and Alice McELROY, sistes, will accompany the body here. The funeral will take place from the residence of C. M. McELROY Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
