James Francis FARMER, well known local resident, dropped dead yesterday morning at 10:15 o'clock at the home of his son, George, ten miles west. The body was brought to the Hoskins funeral home. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Hoskins' Funeral Home in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery.
He was born February 9, 1855 and passed away at the age of 75 years. His wife preceded him in death May 19, 1920.
The following children survive: Mrs. Charles GREEN of Sheridan, Wyo.; Miss Ina FARMER of Des Moines, Lou of Burlington, Omar, Sam R., Harlin, George and Miss Elizabeth of Fairfield, and Mrs. Harry JOHNSON of Fairview, Ill(.) He also leaves one brother, George FARMER of Douds, and eight grandchildren.

James Francis, second of the eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel R. FARMER was born at Platent Rock, Missouri on the 9th, of February, 1855. He passed away at the home of his son George, N. W. of Fairfield on Tuesday morning December 9, 1930 when past 75 years of age. The family home was moved to Jefferson County, Iowa when Mr. FARMER was an infant and practically his entire life has been spent in this locality.
He was married to Elizabeth Ann ROGERS (sic - RODGERS) at Sheridan Iowa, Nov. 1st., 1882 and lived happily in this union till she passed on May 19, 1920. Nine children were born to them, all of whom survive.
To mourn his passing Mr. FARMER leaves his children, Mrs. Charles GREEN of Sheridan, Wyo., Mrs. Harvey JOHNSON of Fairview, Ill., Miss Ina FARMER of Des Moines, Elizabeth, Sam R., Hardin, and George of Fairfield, Lou of Burlington and Homer, also of Fairfield. One brother, George FARMER of Douds survives him and 8 grandchildren. These with a large number of friends and local acquaintances will mourn his passing. His end came very suddenly. In his usual health he was about the home in the morning hours dropping dead at 10:15 o'clock without warning.
Funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson of the First Christian Church. Mrs. W. L. Van Nostrand sang two selections, "Going Down the Valley" and "In The Garden:" The remains were interred in Evergreen Cemetery by the side of his wife.
