MRS. J. C. FABER
Louisa GRABY, daughter of Ludwig and Mary GRABY, was born near Lockridge, Ia., on May 1st, 1871 and departed from this life on March 13, 1926 at the age of 54 years 10 months and 13 days. She was baptized as a child and at an early age was instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran church near Germanville, Ia., of which faith she was a devoted member her entire life. On December 3, 1891 she was married to Jacob Christian FABER. They reisded in Brighton, Iowa for a time where their only child, a daughter was born. Nearly her entire married life was spent in Jefferson county on a farm near Lockridge, Iowa with the exception of the last six years the home was in Lockridge. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Lockridge, attending services regularly when health would permit. Was a member of its Aid society and taught a Sunday school class and again here ever tried to do her part as she was permitted.
A year and a half ago her health failed and this dear one was confined very closely to her home, yet ever trying to serve those in that home in some way beyond her failing strength for she was a sterling mother nature that ever endured to lighten the burden for others. She was often an intense sufferer but of that patient praying type waiting for relief either here or in the future life.
She was taken to the University hospital at Iowa City, March 1st in hope that something might be done for her, but it was not to be and on March 13 she was called quietly and peacefully home to that One in who she trusted to give her rest.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Alma Wayne VORHIES, two little grandsons, Ronald and Gerald VORHIES who were their grandmother's pride and joy also a niece, Velma FABER, who has had her home with the FABERs since 7 years of age, who she mothered and cared for. She is survived also by two sisters, Mrs. Andrew LAUTH (sic - LOUTH) and Mrs. James TURNER and one brother Henry GRABY, all of Fairfield.
Funeral services were held on March 16, from the English Lutheran church in Fairfield in charge of Rev. O. A. Elmquist, of Swedesburg. A quartet composed of Mrs. Will Neibert, Ray Mulkins and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rauscher, very beautiful sang, "Asleep in Jesus," "Fade Fade Each Earthly Joy" and "Heaven is My Home.". Interment in Evergreen cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. FABER Mrs. VORHIES, the grandchildren and Velma in their loss of a dear wife and mother.
Blessed be her memory.
