StockportCynthia "Cindy" Lea KANE McENTEE was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2022, at home, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Hotel Manning in Keosauqua, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Cindy's honor to the family for a memorial swing or planting of trees at the golf course. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com .
She was born in Fairfield, Iowa, to Marily J FRESCOLN KANE and Leonard "Sug" Earl KANE on August 8, 1948. She was born in the elevator of the Jefferson County Hospital. When Cindy was going to get something done, she got it done!
She was the middle of three girls. The KANE sisters were legendary in Fairfield, Iowa. Her sisters are Karen (Daryl) CLINGAN and Connie (Tom) WHITE. They had so many stories of their travels, places they lived, and characters they met. She was lucky to meet her brother, Kevin KANE, later on in life and it was such a blessing.
She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) McENTEE November 25, 1967, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, Iowa. They had many adventures together, including living in Alaska and California. The love traveling to see family and friends. Together, they raised three ornery, amazing boys, Chris, Pat and Matt. They lived on the family farm outside of Stockport for 40 years, and retired to Keosauqua, Iowa. They all have fond memories of driving across the country many times with their truck camper with three boys in the back. There are endless stories.
The biggest pride in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She lived for and loved time spent with her family. Cindy said, "Family is the most important thing. We have to stick together" and "Together is the best place to be." She loved her grandchildren and made them each feel so special. Everyone who knew Cindy said her heart was so big and she was the kindest person that they knew. She just embodied love. She didn't have a judgmental bone in her body, but she fiercely stood up for family, friends, and ideas when she believed in them.
You could call or show up at Cindy's house at any time, day or night. She would make any comfort food for you, some favorites are ranch style hash, carmel brownies, and chocolate chip cookies. Grandchildren fondly remember her asking, "Would you like some mac and cheese, honey?" If you needed her, she was there, no matter what. And she had the most amazing hugs. She taught everyone she knew the importance of giving and getting a good hug.
Cindy definitely had the gift of gab. She never met a stranger. She also had many sayings or advice for people, "Dynamite comes in small packages," "Always kill them with kindness," "Always keep smiling. It's important," and "Everyone needs a hug."
Cindy was a very active member of her Van Buren County community. She served as the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) president for years. She was active in the Villages of Van Buren County. She was a member of PEO. She worked at the Co-op in Stockport, IA, and at the Van Buren County Hospital for 20 years. She also loved her class reunions and was a proud 1966 Fairfield High School graduate. She loved the "Girls of 66" trips with all of her friends.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Marily KANE and "Sug" KANE; and one son, Patrick (Pat) McENTEE.
She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Bob McENTEE; sons, Chris and his wife Kara, Matt and his wife Breanne; and daughter-in-law, Jenny McENTEE; grandchildren, Kali (Troy), Brookelynn (Patrick), Myles, Brody, Lukas, Aidan, Lilly, MaColie and Brinly; and great grandchildren, Kayden, Emmalynn and Joeli; two sisters, Karen (Daryl) CLINGAN and Connie WHITE; one brother, Kevin (Jeannine) KANE; and adored by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be missed so much!
Cindy wanted everyone to know that she loves them!
