Dorothy May HOLLINGSWORTH was born Jan. 31, 1935, in rural Brighton, Iowa, to Daniel and Laura RITTER GUY. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Brighton, where she graduated with the Class of 1953. Shortly after graduation, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Willis HOLLINGSWORTH. Together they became loving parents to six children: Paul, Glen, David, Linda, Robin and Lea Ann. Dorothy loved being a mother, wife and homemaker. She managed things at home and helped on the farm with anything that needed to be done. Dorothy was a skilled seamstress and not only made things for her family but also began working outside the home at Ben Franklin in Fairfield. She then went on to work at Corinne's Creations, eventually buying the business and starting Dotty's Sewing Nook. She hemmed many pairs of pants and took in many dresses during her time there, eventually retiring in 2015. Dorothy always remained active outside of work. She was a member of the Ollie Baptist Church, where she was active not only with church but with the sewing and quilting clubs. She served several terms on the Pekin School Board and was a member of the Packwood Community Club and the International Edsel Club. When she had time to spare, she would bake or work in her garden growing sweet potatoes, sweet corn and many other goods that she would share with family and friends. Dorothy's life was deeply rooted in her faith. She always enjoyed reading a good book and would read the Bible from front to back every year. She was always a caretaker to her family and even her friends and neighbors. Dorothy always thought of her family as her greatest achievement and made the most of every moment they could be together. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the many friends she made along the way.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis HOLLINGSWORTH; a great-grandson, Connor HOLLINGSWORTH; and three siblings, Harold, Donald and Kenneth GUY.

Left to share her story are her children, Paul (Debra) HOLLINGSWORTH of Brandenburg, Ky., Glen (Carol) HOLLINGSWORTH of Hoffman Estates, Ill., David (Jody) HOLLINGSWORTH of Packwood, Iowa, Linda SNODGRASS of Girard, Ill., Robin (David) ADAMS of Lamont, Iowa, and Lea Ann (Mark) CLARK of Eldon, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, Brian (Lynn) HOLLINGSWORTH, John (Jamie) HOLLINGSWORTH, Adam HOLLINGSWORTH, Eric (Meghann) HOLLINGSWORTH, Kristen (Danny) FLORES, J.D. (Becky) HOLLINGSWORTH, Bridget HOLLINGSWORTH, Joshua SNODGRASS, Tim (Rachel) SNODGRASS, Jennifer (David) HAYES, Nathan (Alyssa) ADAMS, Grant CLARK, Ben CLARK, Lindsey UPTON, Tierney SIEVERS and Colton (Allison) SIEVERS; 13 great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Doris NORDYKE, as well as many extended family and friends.
