FairfieldDixie MYERS, 84, of Fairfield, passed away January 5, 2022, at Jefferson County Health Center.
There will be a private funeral service with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospice and mailed to Jerry MYERS, 829 Country Lane Road, Keosauqua, IA 52565.
Dixie was born February 6, 1937, in Fairfield to Fred and Eva (PHILLIPS) HOOTMAN. She married Carl "Doc" MYERS in Fairfield on June 3, 1955. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before he passed away on December 10, 2015.
Dixie helped Doc on the farm and worked at Walmart. She was a 4-H leader in Jefferson County and Van Buren County. Dixie followed the Hawkeyes football and basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed following her grandkids activities and was very proud of them. A part of Dixie will live on by being an organ donor.
She will be missed by her children, Deborah (Jim) STORTZ of Cordova, IL, Jerry (Nicki) MYERS of Keosauqua and Sheryl (Nick) PITTS of Kirksville, MO; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Peggy HOOVER of Missouri and Jim HOOTMAN of Sioux Falls, SD.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva; husband, Carl "Doc"; one son, Garry; three brothers; and two sisters.
