MRS. MORGAN EVANS TO BE BURIED HERE

Mrs. Morgan EVANS died Saturday evening at her home in Delphos, Iowa (note: in Ringgold Co., IA).

It is expected that the body will arrive here tomorrow morning and the funeral Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The services will be held at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Sam NEISWANGER. Mrs. EVANS' maiden name was Miss Nellie JONES. She formely (sic) taught school around here for a number of years.

LIFE OF HELEN G. EVANS

Helen Gertrude EVANS, known to her many friends as "Nellie" EVANS, formerly "Nellie" JONES, was born at Newark, Ohio, Feb. 20, 1854 and departed this life Dec. 25, 1920 at 6:34 p.m. at the age of 66 years 10 months 5 days.

Her parents, Ellis B. JONES and Elizabeth TILSON JONES came to Iowa when she was about six months old, settling at Fairfield where he opened up a wagon making shop where he continued till he joined the Union army early in the Civil war. He died at Vicksburg, July 2, 1863.

To this union were born four children of whom the deceased was the oldest as well as the last surviving, Charles having died in infancy, Mary in young womanhood and Addie in the year 1911.

Her mother, later Mrs. Robert WATERS, died Feb. 7, 1898 in our own city of Fairfield. Nellie JONES grew to womanhood and received her education in the Fairfield schools, after which she taught school for several terms in the neighborhood and can remember her old friends by the score in and around our city.

On October 25, 1877 she was unite (sic) in marriage to Mogan (sic - Morgan) H. EVANS of Newark, Ohio, and to this union were born six children, five of whom, together with their father, are with us today to mourn the death of their mother and wife and our friend.

The deceased united wih the Congregational Church of Fairfield when 13 years of age and continued to hold her membership in this church.

After marriage, together with her husband she lived near Newark, Ohio, until 1883, when they moved to what was then known as "Western Iowa," settling at Delphos, where they continued to make their home to the present time.

Her life was given entirely to her home and the comforts of her family and those around here, and was a great lover of children. In her home community she was known to children for miles around as "Mother" or "Grandmother" EVANS.
