Front Page, Column 7DR. L. R. ELLER DIES SUDDENLY THIS MORNING
Death came this morning to a prominent Fairfield resident and retired dentist. He is Dr. L. R. ELLER, 71, who passed away at his home, 802 S. Main street, at 7:30 a.m. today.
Dr. ELLER had been in failing health for the past 12 years, but his death from a heart attack this morning was considered sudden.
Dr. ELLER practiced dentistry in Fairfield for approximately 20 years, coming to this community from Anita, Iowa. He was forced to retire 12 years ago when his health began to fail.
The body is at the Monger funeral home where last rites are pending arrival of relatives.
Lloyd R. ELLER was born January 18 (sic - 28), 1880, in Jefferson county, Iowa, the son of the late A. H. and Lucy PECK ELLER. He was reared and educated in Jefferson county and graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1905.
Dr. ELLER began his practice at Packwood, Iowa. He later went to Anita, Iowa, before moving to Fairfield to continue his practice and make his home.
Dr. ELLER was united in marriage on September 12, 1906, to Besse A. McCOY, who survives. A member of the Masons, Elks and Lions club, Dr. ELLER for many years was active in the civic and social activities of the Fairfield community.
Since his health failed him, Dr. ELLER took up wood carving as a hobby, concentrating his efforts on horses. His friends have long praised the fine and excellent work he has done and marvel at the minute details he brought out in his carvings.
Besides his wife Dr. ELLER is survived by two children: Dr. Lancelot W. ELLER, Kanawha, Iowa; and Mrs. Dale NELSON, Birmingham; and four grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers: Dr. C. E. ELLER, Ottumwa; C. J. ELLER, Des Moines; Dr. C. B. ELLER, Clarinda; and two sisters, Mrs. Lee B. FORREST, Redland, California; and Mrs. Floyd R. GAMBLE, Santa Anna, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Winthrop ELLER who died in infancy; and two sisters, Mrs. Ira STEELE, Royal, Iowa; and his twin sister, Mrs. James FOX who lived at Seattle, Washington.

Memorial services for Dr. Lloyd R. ELLER--a charter member of the Fairfield Lions club--were conducted by C. I. Thoma at the regular session of the club here last night.
Thoma briefly reviewed the history of the founding and chartering of the Fairfield club calling attention to the fact that Dr. ELLER had been very active in starting the organization in Fairfield and that in reality he had served as the first president of the club. The first men elected remained in Fairfield only a short time, and Dr. ELLER completed the term and helped get the club started on the road to success.
He paid tribute to the character of Dr. ELLER, and related his many acts of faithfulness even after his health forced him to retire from his practice.
