MARJORIE MARIE VAN WINKLE
Brighton

Marjorie Marie VAN WINKLE, 82, of Brighton, died at her home late Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 20, 1939, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Hubert Lloyd and Gladys Marie BRANDMEYER COX. Marjorie grew up in Canton, Ohio, until she was 8 years old and then with her parents moved to Fairfield, Iowa. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1957. Marjorie was united in marriage to Lyle Gene VAN WINKLE on June 30, 1957.

Marjorie drove a school bus for Waco Community School District for 38 years and loved her bus kids, along with farm homemaker, she was a detasseling foreman for Pioneer Seed for 10 years, delivered school busses (sic - buses) all over the country for Blue Bird of Mount Pleasant for many years and Winnebago Motor Homes mostly to the western U.S. She loved to travel and visited 49 of the states. Marjorie was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, was a Walnut Township Trustee for a few years, served a three-year term on the State of Iowa Grand Jury, was a member of the Washington Saddle Club and Washington Art Guild, was a horse artist, and was an animal lover, especially her cats, dogs and horses.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lyle; two daughters, Patty EGGLESTON and husband Stan of Memphis, Mo., and Jane BERG and husband Don of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Sara EGGLESTON of Ottumwa, Julie MONROE (Micheal) of Memphis and Dillon BERG of Ottumwa; and her pets, Jessie, Lily, Jerry and Mollie.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation with the family will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. No funeral services are planned.

Memorials for Noah's Ark in Fairfield or the McCreery Cancer Center of Fairfield may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 3209 110th St. Brighton, IA 52540.
