DEATH TAKES V. S. EHRHARDT
Prominent Jefferson County Farmer Died in Des Moines Hospital

V. S. EHRHARDT, 59, one of the prominent farmers of Jefferson county, passed away at 4:20 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Des Moines hospital following a two years illness.

The body was brought to the Hoskins Funeral home and services were held from the family home, 6 1-2 miles northwest of Fairfield, this afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. John Porath. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. EHRHARDT was born in Chenia (sic - Chenoa), Ill. He has been a resident of Jefferson county since the year of 1915. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: William, Roy, Mrs. Alvin LEATHERS and Mrs. Elmer RAMSAY of Fairfield; Walter of Tempe, Ariz.; Elsie, Eugene and John, at home. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Peter of Humboldt, Iowa; Mrs. Lucy MOORE of Plymouth, Ind.; Mrs. Mary KLEIN, and Mrs. Anna FARLEY of Pontiac Ill.; Charles and Dennis of Chenoa, Ill.

PAY TRIBUTE TO V. S. EHRHARDT
Last Rites for Prominent Jefferson County Farmer Held Yesterday

Many relatives and friends gathered at the EHRHARDT home, 6½ miles northwest of the city, yesterday to pay tribute to V. S. EHRHARDT, prominent Jefferson county farmer who passed away in Des Moines hospital Saturday.

The services were held at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon in charge of Rev. John Porath. The music was furnished by Will Summers, Miss Mildred Emery, Mrs. Jack Buckles and Mrs. Belle Parish who sang "No Night There," "Does Jesus Care" and "Saved By Grace."

The many beautiful floral offerings sent by friends and neighbors were banked about the casket. Pallbearers were Floyd Davidson, John Coffin, Pearl Johnson, Charles Baker, Columbus Nelson and Forrest Johnson. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

OBITUARY

V. S. EHRHARDT

Valentine Simon EHRHARDT, son of Henry and Magdelena EHRHARDT, was born December 10, 1872, in McClain county, Chenoah county, Illinois (sic). Here he grew to manhood, spending forty years of his life on his father's farm. In 1915 he moved to Jefferson county, Iowa, where he remained until his death on July 2, 1932.

In the month of April, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma JACOBS and to this union there was born five boys and three girls. when a young man he united with the Lutheran church at Chenoa., Ill.

Mr. EHRHARDT took great pride in his home. Everything was well improved and kept up. He loved to look out and see nature in all her glory, often remarking about this tree, or that hill. Nature seemed to hold a charm for him. But for the past few years he had been failing in health and had been confined to his bed a part of the time.

With his father, mother, one brother and one sister who proceded (sic) him, he leaves to mourn his death his wife and eight children: Mrs. V. S. EHRHARDT, William H., of Fairfield; Walter C., of Tempe, Arizona; Mrs. Alvin LEATHERS, Mrs. Elmer RAMSAY of Fairfield; John and Eugene at home; also fifteen grandchildren. Six brothers and sisters: Peter EHRHARDT of Humboldt, Iowa; Mary KLEIN of Pontiac, Ill.; Charles and Lennis F. (sic) of Shenoa, Ill.; Anna FARLEY of Pontiac, Ill., and a host of other relatives and friends.
