FRIDAY RITES FOR EDWARDS

A former long-time local factory employe passed away at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at a hospital in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

He is Walter L. EDWARDS, well known Fairfield resident who was employed at the Fairfield Glove and Mitten company for 33 years before he was forced to retire because of illness. He had been in poor health the last five years.

Funeral services will be friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. E. A. Piper in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Walter LeRoy EDWARDS, 71, was born August 7, 1879, at Grand Pass, Missouri. He was the son of the late Henry and Catherine COOPER EDWARDS.

He was united in marriage on March 23, 1921, to Flora H. ELDER, who survives. The wedding took place at Kirksville, Missouri. EDWARDS was a member of the First Lutheran church and spent practically his entire life in Fairfield. The family home is at 802 W. Stone.

He was employed as shipping clerk at the glove and mitten company plant for 33 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Raymond, Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Mattie HENDRICKSON, Springfield, Missouri and Mrs. Adra BROADWELL, Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Pearl CLINKENBEARD, Fairfield; Mrs. Mabel CLARK and Mrs. Jessie SULLIVAN, who reside in California.

EDWARDS Funeral Will Be Friday Afternoon

Last rites for Walter EDWARDS, former long-time employee of the Fairfield Glove company, will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

EDWARDS passed away Tuesday evening after suffering ill health for the past five years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Raymond EDWARDS, Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Mattie HENDRICKSON, also of Springfield, and Mrs. Adra BROADWELL, Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Pearl CLINKENBEARD, Fairfield, Mrs. Mabel CLARK and Mrs. Jessie SULLIVAN, both of California, and Mrs. Lola DURST, Eldon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son, John, who was killed September 12, 1918, at St. Mihiel, and two brothers.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as the Executrix of the estate of Walter EDWARDS deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment; and those having claims against the same will present them, duly authenticated, to the undersigned for allowance, and file in the office of the Clerk of the District court.
