ECKWALL Rites To Be Thursday

Mrs. John ECKWALL, 86, native of Sweden and a long-time resident of the Fairfield community, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Kirk Nursing home in Agency (note: in Wapello Co., IA). She had been in failing health for sime time (sic).

Until she was taken to the nursing home about a month ago, she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McNEW, 1007 S. Fourth.

Last rites will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Raymond funeral home with the Rev. J. Roland Crandall in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Augusta Charlotta ECKWALL was born Feb. 7, 1877, in Sweden, the daughter of Lars P. and Johanna NELSON. She came to the United States 81 years ago and was reared and educated in Jefferson county.

She was united in marriage on Dec. 24, 1908, in Fairfield to John ECKWALL. He preceded his wife in death on Dec. 8, 1916.

Mrs. ECKWALL had been a resident of Fairfield for 46 years and was a member of the Methodist church over 60 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. McNEW; one grandson and three great grandchildren. A great grandchild was born Monday morning at Humboldt, Iowa, to her grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bob McNEW.

Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Delphia STORTZ, Fairfield, also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
