Page 3, Column 2MRS. G. A. DROZ DIED ON FRIDAY
Mrs. George DROZ died last night about ten o'clock at her home on East Jefferson street after several weeks of illness and suffering. Her death had been expected by her relatives and friends for several days.
Mrs. DROZ was a native of France being born in Alsace, February 227 (sic - 27), 1838. Her maiden name was Mary V. RAINICKE (sic - RAINICHE). When she was sixteen years of age she came to this country with relatives who came west and settled in Jefferson county. On July 30th, 1857, she was united in marriage to George A. DROZ who died in this city about two years ago.
Mrs. DROZ had been a resident of this county since first coming to America and was well known all over the county. For many years Mr. and Mrs. DROZ resided on a farm near this city and when old age crept upon them they moved to Fairfield. Mrs. DROZ was of quiet and retiring disposition, lavishing all her care and affection upon her children. She was a staunch member of the Catholic church all of her life.
Mrs. DROZ was the mother of ten children two of whom, Peter and George, are dead. The others are: Mrs. John ROTH, Joseph and Frank DROZ of Fairfield, Louis DROZ of Batavia, Mrs. Frank WITCOSKY (sic - WITKOSKY), of Fairfield, Mrs. Jolhn (sic) CAMPBELL of Birmingham, Mrs. A. SCHEAFER of Eugenia, Oregon, and Dr. A. DROZ of Keota.
The funeral services will be held monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city and interrment will take place in Evergreen cemetery. Rev. H. J. Hogan will conduct the last services.

She is survived by eight children; Joseph, Frank, Mrs. John ROTH, and Mrs. Frank WITKOSKY, of Fairfield; Mrs. John CAMPBELL of Birmingham, Louis of Batavia, Dr. A. DROZ of Keota, and Mrs. SCHAEFERS (sic) of Eugenia Oregon.
