... --Mr. and Mrs. Robert DOUGLASS, Jim, Susan and Anne of Shaker Heights, Ohio, arrived Saturday night for a visit here with his father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. C. R. DOUGLASS, 400 S. Third. Dr. DOUGLASS is a patient at Jefferson County Hospital.

Curtis DOUGLASS Dies; Local Pastor, Teacher

Dr. Curtis R. DOUGLASS, 79, pastor-emeritus of the First United Presbyterian Church, died suddenly at 5:30 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital. He entered the hospital for treatment Saturday.

Dr. DOUGLASS had been a resident of Fairfield for 26 years. The family home is at 400 S. Third Street.

Services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John R. Dilley and the Rev. Jack Steele officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Weston Behner Funeral Home Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dr. DOUGLASS was born March 30, 1891 at Indian Point, Ill., the son of the Rev. Hugh D. and Henrietta METCALF DOUGLASS. He was married Aug. 12, 1919 to Eda M. TENISON.

Surviving are his widow and four children: Robert DOUGLASS, Shaker Heights, Ohio; Margaret DOUGLASS, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Patricia ANDERSON, Monticello; and Mrs. Martha McCONNAHA, Trinidad, Colo. Five grandchildren also survive.

Dr. DOUGLASS is a graduate of James Millikin University and McCormick Seminary. He received a doctor of divinity degree at Millikin U. in 1935.

Dr. DOUGLASS came to Fairfield from Wooster, Ohio, where he served as pastor of the College Church for 15 years. Earlier he held pastorates at Enfield, Ill., and Logan, Ohio. He also served with the Westminster Foundation at the University of Iowa for three years.

Dr. DOUGLASS served as pastor of the local church from 1944 until his retirement in the fall of 1960. He also served on the Parsons College faculty for many years, first as a part-time teacher and later as head of the department of religion after his retirement from the ministry.

He also served on the boards of trustees of Parsons and Millikin University.

Dr. DOUGLASS was a former member of the Board of Christian Education of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. During his ministry, he also filled many presbytery and synod positions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Wit and Wisdom Club and Rotary Club.

Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

DOUGLASS Fund

A scholarship fund has been established at the First United Presbyterian Church as a memorial to the late Dr. C. R. DOUGLASS.

Dr. DOUGLASS, pastor emeritus of the First United Presbyterian Church and former Parsons College faculty member, died Wednesday. Last rites were held this morning.

The memorial scholarship will be administered by the church and will be used to assist local students with their education.
