MRS. VAN TASSEL DIED YESTERDAY
Passed Away At Daughter's Home After Long Illness.

Mrs. Phoebe L. VAN TASSEL, who has been living with her daughter, Mrs. Bessie FRAKES at 508 South Depot street, passed away last evening about 5 oclock. Mrs. VAN TASSEL had been in poor health for some time but her condition did not become serious until three weeks ago.

Phoebe L. SMITH, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham SMITH, was born in Brownstown, Indiana, January 28, 1846. In 1863 she was married to William H. DORMAN and to this union were born two children, Samuel F. and Alvin E. (sic - Alva E.) both of whom have preceded her in death. In 1875 she married Rufus T. VAN TASSEL who died in January 1899 in Pierson (sic - Pierceton), Ind., leaving her a widow with two sons and two daughters. They were Nellie Ellen, Bessie Ellis, Hiram Bert and James Walter, three of whom, are still living. Nellie died about twenty-five years ago. Mrs. VAN TASSEL also leaves one stepson and one stepdaughter.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock from the Baptist church. Rev. W. C. Monroe will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Funeral of Mrs. VAN TASSEL

Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Baptist church in this city over the remains of Mrs. Phoebe VAN TASSEL, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bessie FRAKES, on South epot (sic) street, last Wednesday. She was seventy-six years of age.
