ROBERT "BOB" RICHARD BROBSTON
Franklin, Tenn.

Robert "Bob" Richard BROBSTON, 72, returned to his heavenly home on Aug. 8, 2021, in Franklin, Tenn. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Iowa, with Pastor John D. Boatman officiating (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). In lieu of flowers, Bob would hope that you would do unexpected and unsolicited acts of kindness for some person in need. Cards may be mailed to BROBSTON, 2020 Fieldstone Parkway, Suite 900-538, Franklin, TN 37069 and online condolences can be left online at www.behnerfh.com.

Bob was born Oct. 25, 1948, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Richard Merle and Evelyn (OVERHOLSER) BROBSTON. He married Shirley Anne FLEMING nearly 56 years ago in Fairfield on Nov. 7, 1965, who he continued to be surrounded by.

Bob began his career at Life Investors in Cedar Rapids. In 1976, he moved his family to Clinton, Iowa, where he furthered his career at Nielsen Clearing House. In 1980, he, Shirley and their two children moved to Hamilton, Ill., where Bob continued his career with Hubinger Co./HJ Heinz/Roquette America in the Information Technology department, where he traveled extensively to Europe. He retired from Roquette America in 2010. During his career, Bob received many awards including being recognized by the Association for Systems Management (ASM) at their international conference, where he received their highest distinguishing award, the "Excellence in Systems Management" award for his many contributions to the systems profession.

Bob had an unquestionable love for God and his family. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk, Iowa, serving on the trustee board and he and Shirley hosted a weekly Bible study in their home for 10 years. He accepted everyone and refused to dismiss anyone. He enjoyed being with people, making conversation with anyone (even strangers), and was a genuine family man. Bob loved to help family, friends and neighbors throughout the community, and enjoyed working outside, in his garden, playing golf or using his gift of woodworking to make friends and family smile.

He will be missed by his wife Shirley of Franklin, Tenn.; his children, Kimberly NEWLON of Hamilton, Ill., and Sean BROBSTON of Franklin, Tenn.; son-in-law, Neil NEWLON; daughter-in-law, Danielle BROBSTON; six grandchildren, Brianna NEWLON, Megan (Brandon) NOTT, Jonathan NEWLON, Zachary BROBSTON, Grace NEWLON and Ethan BROBSTON; one brother, Tom (Karen) BROBSTON of Gerlaw, Ill.; sister-in-law, Judy BROBSTON of Libertyville, Iowa; and nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn; and three brothers, Dickie Lee, Jim (Marie) and Don.

"Dad, you embodied values which today appear out of fashion - your faith in God, your decency, your honesty, your absolute selflessness, your complete disinterest in ego and materialism, your stoic resolve in the face of relentless adversity to fulfill your duty to your family, without praise or gratitude. You have earned your eternal rest. Now we will continue your resolve and try to follow your example. To be decent people, to care for family and to always think of others.

We love you and we will miss you terribly until we meet again.

In loving memory,
Your family"
