JAMES DESPAIN PASSED AWAY IN FORT MADISON

James DESPAIN died last evening at Fort Madison from a stroke of paralysis. The burial will take place here. The funeral will be held here tomorrow, but the hour has not been set.

The remains will arrive here this afternoon and will be taken to the home of his mother Mrs. William DESPAIN. He is survived by his mother and several brothers and sisters.

FUNERAL OF JAMES S. DESPAIN OCCURS ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON

The funeral of the late J. S. DESPAIN will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of his mother Mrs. Rachel DESPAIN on West Jefferson street. The service at the home will be in charge of the Odd Fellows. Mr. DESPAIN having been a member of Harold Lodge No. 54, I. O. O. F., of Burlington.

James Simpson DESPAIN died Thursday evening at 5:10 o'clock, after a sickness of three hours duration at Fort Madison, age 53 years, 11 months and one day(.) He was born in Des Moines county, October 15th, 1865, and was united in marriage to Mrs. Laura HOBSON, Oct. 7th (sic - 9th), 1888.

To this union were born two children, Lulu Leolo and Carl Bryan, the latter dying in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Lulu YOUNK, his aged mother Mrs. Rachel DESPAIN, five sisters and six brothers, and one half brother who resides at West Burlington, Ia.

The brothers and sisters are: Newton of Galesburg, Ill., George of Springfield, Ill., Jerry of Burlington, Theodore and Joe of Lockridge, Peter of Fairfield, Mrs. Aid MAXWELL of Burlington, Mrs. Anna McINTIRE, Mrs. Blanche MANARY and Mrs. Rachel PICKETT of Fairfield, and Mrs. Belle GRAHAM of Ottumwa.
