Anthony DEMARCE, who was a resident of this city for nearly a third of a century, died at Texarkana, Texas, Saturday noon, after a long period of failing health. His remains arrived in this city, accompanied by members of his family, last evening, and funeral services will be held at the residence of John DEMARSH on West Washington street Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. DEMARCE was born at Montreal, Canada, April 18th, 1829. He was married to Mary LAGRACH (sic - LaROCK) at Watertown, N.Y., in 1852. Three children survive him, Alfred W., Charles F., and Frank T. The family came to this city in 1856 and its home was here until 1888, when removal was made to Texarkana. While a resident of Fairfield Mr. DEMARCE operated a foundry and machine shop and was a sucessful business man. He was engaged in similar business at his southern home.

Editors Ledger:--Anthony DEMARCE, who died at Texarkana, Texas, April 21st, was born in Canada West, April 18th, 1829. He went to Watertown, N. Y., at the age of seventeen, and while there was employed in the machine shop of Hoard & Bradford. In 1852 he was married to Mary BAROCK (sic - LaROCK), who survives him. They came to Washington, this state, in 1854, where Mr. D. was in business for a year, when he came to this city. While in Fairfield he operated a machine shop and foundry. Five children were born to him here, two of whom died in infancy. The others, A. W. , Charles F. and Frank L., survive their father. In 1889 Mr. DEMARCE removed to Texarkana, where he engaged in the business he had followed in Iowa so man years. He was an honest, upright, progressive business man. Mr. DEMARCE's health began to fail about two years ago and he returned to this state for a rest. He remained here about three months, and returned south somewhat improved. He came north again, making a short stay here and visiting in New York state, going back to Texas in November. His condition again became serious about the first of the year, and he continued to grow worse until death relieved his sufferings.
