HERALD D. DAY IS SUMMONED
Services Tomorrow Afternoon at 2 O'clock; Interment Evergreen

Herald DuBOIS DAY, son of John W. and Charlotte DuBOIS DAY, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital Saturday night at 10:15 o'clock.

..Funeral services wil be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'cock (sic) from the Murray Funeral home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the First Methodist church. Services at the cemetery will be in charge of B. P. O. Elks and Legion Firing Squad. Interment in Evergreen.

He was born June 17, 1897 and died at age of 34 years and 24 days. He is survived by one brother, Wilbur M. DAY of Norwood, Ohio, and his grandmother Mrs. Reuben DuBOIS of this city(.)

OBITUARY

HERALD DU BOIS DAY

Herald Du BOIS DAY son of John W. and Charolette Du BOIS DAY was born in Parora, Iowa June 17-1879 and passed away at 10:15 P. M. July 11-1931 at the Jefferson County Hospital. For several months he had been a sufferer from the dread disease diabetes. His mother died June 7-1901 and his father August 27-1916. After his mother's death Herald came to make his home with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ruben D. Du BOIS 206 West Broadway. He attended the Fairfield city schools and graduated with the High School Class of 1917. He enlisted May 31-1918 for service in the World War. He was a corporal in the Headquarters company 163 Depot Brigade 45 Atillery C. A. C. and recived his discharge Feburary 19-1919 at Camp Dodge Iowa. He was a member of Allen Jewett Post No. 47 of the American Legion and the Fairfield Iowa Iowa Lodge No. 1192 B. P. O. Elks. He leaves to morn his departure a brother Wilbur M. DAY of Norwood Ohio. A grandmother Mrs. Sarah W. Du BOIS and an Aunt Mrs. Susannah HISEL and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Murry Funeral Home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the First Methodist Church. Miss Cora A. Ball sang accompanied by Miss Ruth Swanson at the piano.

Casket attendents were Harold Pence, Melvin Letchy, and Aleck Miller from the Legion and Harry E. Smith, Robert Mitchell and Fred Wray from the Elks.

Services at the grave were in charge of the B. P. O. Elks. The firing squad of the American Legion Funeral Detachment executed the rifle salute of three volleys before sounding Taps. Interment was in the Du BOIS family lot in the Evergreen Cemetry.
