Mrs. Homer C. DAVIS, 96, former long-time resident of Fairfield, died suddenly at 3:30 a.m. today at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA).
While a resident of Fairfield the family home was at 207½ E. Adams. For the past five years she had been a patient at the Ramsey Memorial Home in Des Moines.
Last rites have been tentatively set for 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Homer C. DAVIS was born Dec. 2, 1872 (sic - 1871) in Monroe, Wis., the daughter of Samuel and Mary Ann WHITESIT JOHNS. She was reared and educated in Monroe.
On Feb. 26, 1890, she was married to Homer C. DAVIS in Mankato, Kan. They moved to Fairfield soon after their marriage and he was engaged in the bakery business here for several years. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Raymond DAVIS, Marshalltown, four daughters, Mrs. A. C. JOHNSON, Fairfield; Mrs. Norvell SWITZER, Largo, Fla.; Mrs. Paul S. REANEY, Devils Lake, N.D.; Mrs. Wilbur OGDEN, Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. DAVIS was preceded in death by her husband who died Feb. 2, 1950, one son, one daughter, one great-granddaughter and two brothers.
