HOMER C. DAVIS DIES AT HOME

Homer C. DAVIS, former Fairfield merchant, passed away early this morning at his home, 304 East Burlington street. His death came at 2:00 a.m.

He had been in poor health for several years and seriously ill the past week.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian church with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Monger funeral home until 12:30 p.m. the day of the funeral.

Homer C. DAVIS, 84, was born October 17, 1865, in Van Buren county, the son of the late William and Rhoda DAVIS. He was reared and educated in Van Buren county, and was married on February 26, 1890, to Lettie LaVina JOHNS. The wedding took place at Mankato, Kansas.

He spent most of his adult life in Fairfield and operated a grocery store and bakery here for many years. He retired from business about 25 years ago. DAVIS is elder emeritus of the Christian church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. A. C. JOHNSON and Mrs. Norval SWITZER, both of Fairfield; Mrs. Paul REANEY, Devils Lake, North Dakota; Mrs. Wilbur OGDEN, Cedar Rapids; and Raymond of Oak Terrace, Minnesota.

He is also survived by two brothers; Walter DAVIS, Fredonia, Kan.; the Rev. Carl C. DAVIS, Lancaster, California; and two sisters, Mrs. E. A. HURME, Chicago; and Mrs. C. T. ROLAND, Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph, and a daughter, Mary Alice.
