Death of James H. DAVIDSON.

Death is truly no respecter of persons, and the strong and middle-aged must bow to its decree equally with the weak and the feeble, the young and the old. It was a painful thought in the mind of every man in Fairfield last Saturday, and it was spoken of in hushed tones and in words of sorrow, that Jas. H. DAVIDSON was dead. For he was a man in the very prime of life, vigorous and hearty to an unusual degree,-a very picture and personification of health. And he was a man among men, too, large-hearted, generous and whole-souled. Everyone who knew him liked and spoke well of Jim DAVIDSON. His death caused both surprise and sorrow.

J. H. DAVIDSON was born in Hopedale, Ohio. He was thirty-five years old. He was married to Mary BELL, of Blackhawk township, about fifteen years ago, and moved to this county three years ago next April. Here he bought the Smeaton and Hughes farm some five or six miles northwest of Fairfield, in all about 3cres (sic), occupying the Smeaton farm as a residence.

He was taken sick about four weeks ago, and while at first it was pronounced rheumatic fever, his death was thought to be from typhoid malaria. He was seriously sick from the first though several times so much better that it was thought he would surely get well. But the struggle grew more unequal last week, until finally at five o'clock last Friday afternoon he passed away.

He leaves a wife and five children to mourn the loss of a tender husband and father. The eldest of the children is about fourteen years old and the youngest an infant. One child was buried about a year ago. The remains were buried in the cemetery in this city last Sunday.
