The funeral services of George DAVENPORT, one of Fairfield's leading citizens, occur this afternoon. The Masons and Odd Fellows assist in the obsequies.

IN MEMORIAM.

Jefferson Lodge, No. 4, I. O. O. F.,
Fairfield, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1877.

Whereas, It has pleased God in the administration of his divine providence to remove from our life George A. DAVENPORT--a man known and recognized in this community as an exemplary Christian, honest, upright and zealous in his labors as a citizen and the head of a family; therefore, be it

Resolved, That in the death of our Brother the Order has lost one of its most useful and substantial members, the community a useful man in every relation of life, the family a just and affectionate husband and father.

Resolved, That our sympany and condolence is extended to the widow and children of deceased, and recommend to them consolation in the thought that their loss is his gain; for he died seeing "light across the valley" -- as the Christian dies, in peace and trust in the Savior.

Resolved, That as a mark of esteem this Hall be draped in mourning for thirty days, and that a copy of these resolutions be furnished the family of deceased and Delaware Lodge, No. 53, Delaware, Ohio, of which he was a member.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be furnished the city papers for publication.

Clinton Lodge, No. 15, A. F. & A. M.
Fairfield, Iowa, Jan. 20, 1877.

WHEREAS, We are again called to shed the sympathizing tear over the grave of a deceased worthy Brother, who for several years has been a member of this Lodge. And,

WHEREAS, During his membership he has been an exemplary Mason, a good citizen and a christian gentlemen, therefore,

Resolved, That in the death of Bro. George DAVENPORT we have lost a good friend and Brother, community an honorable and upright citizen, and his family a head, husband and father.

Resolved, That in this sad bereavement we, as a Lodge, tender to the afflicted family our heartfelt sympathy.

Resolved, That his resolution be spread upon the records of this Lodge; that a copy of the same be given to the family of the deceased Brother, and that the same be published in our city newspapers.
