C. W. DANIELSON DIES IN CRASH

Carl W. DANIELSON, native of Jefferson county and former well known resident of Fairfield, died while at the wheel of his car in Ottumwa Friday, May 31, about noon. The car crashed into a telephone pole in the 200 block on North Court street in Ottumwa. He and his family had made their home in that city for the past five years.

Doctors who arrived on the scene shortly after the mishap said it is probable that he had a heart attack as he was driving. Although the front of his car was smashed, the accident was not believed serious enough to have caused his death.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at Ottumwa Monday at 2:00 p.m. The body will then be brought to the Methodist church in Fairfield where brief services will be held at 3:45 p.m. with Rev. U. S. Smith, former pastor here, in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Carl William DANIELSON was born in Jefferson county, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. A. DANIELSON, who lived about four miles south of Fairfield. He received his early education in local schools and graduated from the Burlington Business college. After teaching several years in Jefferson county schools, he became assistant cashier at the Iowa State Bank, a position he held for 20 years.

He was a life-time member of the Methodist church, and served as its treasurer during the 20 years he was employed at the bank. He was a World War I veteran, and a member of the local Masonic Lodge and American Legion.

He married Maria GRIMSTEAD (sic - Berea GRINSTEAD). To that union was born one daughter, Bettye Joyce.

In 1935 Mr. DANIELSON accepted the position as field supervisor for the U. S. Emergency Crop and Feed Loan Service. He and his family moved to Ottumwa five years ago and reside at 334 East Fifth street in that city.

Beside his wife and daughter, Mr. DANIELSON is survived by two brothers, J. I. and Frank R.; one sister, Mrs. Lavina ROBERTS, all of Fairfield.
