Dean Church, 65, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jerry Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant,where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Church was born May 26, 1940, in rural Jefferson County, the son of Harold and Edith V. Smith Church. He married Jean A. Glanzman May 17, 1970, in Mount Pleasant.

He was a 1959 graduate of Fairfield High School.

He grew up in the Jefferson County area and moved to Mount Pleasant after his marriage. He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown as a utility man for more than 35 years.

A member of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, Mr. Church had served as a deacon. He rung the church bell on Sunday mornings for many years.

He was an avid Hawkeye fan, as well as a Mount Pleasant Panther football and basketball fan and a race car fan. He also was interested in model trains and belonged to two train clubs.

Survivors include his wife; and one brother, Walter Church of Salem, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
