Velna CRILE

Velna Marie COX CRILE, 95, of Fairfield, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Martin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends may call at their convenience between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, The casket will be closed.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, the Fairfield Public Library for large print books, or the Lockridge Senior Center.

Mrs. CRILE was born July 26, 1907, near Martinsburg, the daughter of Joshua Osbern and Mary Etta BUSH COX. She married Orrie William CRILE Oct. 31, 1923, in Ottumwa. He died Oct. 12, 1979.

She lived in Wapello County from 1907 to 1928. She and her husband farmed near Farson and Batavia before moving to Fairfield in 1928. They farmed east of Fairfield.

She worked at the Leggett and Turner hotels. She worked at the Turner Hotel for 34 years and worked for Parsons College from 1963 until the college closed.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one nephew.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
