MRS. CRAWFORD PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Thomas CRAWFORD, 79, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Jefferson county hospital where she had been since February 25th. She had been in failing health for about 6 months and seriously ill for the past ten days.

Mrs. CRAWFORD is survived by an only son, Edgar L. ALLENDER, 302 W. Madison St. She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. ALLENDER for a number of years She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Amos FOOTE, 202 W. Burlington St., a brother, Alex GORDON of Bennington, Neb. and one grandson, Staff Sgt. Charles L. ALLENDER, stationed at Camp Reynolds, Penn.

Margaret GORDON was the daughter Joseph and Elizabeth GORDON, pioneer Jefferson county residents. She was born February 5, 1865 in Jefferson county and lived all her life in this community. She was married a number of years ago to Knox ALLENDER, who passed away when their son Edgar was a small child. She was later married to Thomas CRAWFORD who passed away on December 21, 1923.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Murray Funeral Home in charge of Dr. Curtis R. Douglass, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Margaret A. CDRAWFORD, Deceased is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District court of Jefferson County, and that Wednesday, April 5 A. D. 1944 at 9:30 o'clock A. M. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court, this 10th day of March 1944.

...--Among the relatives and friends who attended the funeral services for the late Mrs. Thomas CRAWFORD, held at the Murray funeral home on Thursday, were Mr. and Mrs. Roy GORDON and daughter, Miss Jeanette GORDON of Bennington, Nebr., Mrs. J. W. Van Tassel of Keokuk and Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Strawbacker of Ottumwa, Staff Sgt. Charles ALLENDER, a grandson from Camp Reynolds, Pa., who was given an extended furlough in order that he might attend the services, leaves this afternoon to return to his army duties.
