Mrs. Mary E. CRAIL, member of a pioneer Jefferson county family, died this morning at the Chatfield Nursing home in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA). She was 81.
Mrs. CRAIL had been in poor health for six years and had been a patient at the Chatfield home for the past two years. She was born in Fairfield April 1, 1870, the daughter of John and Elizabeth SHUSTER POULTON. Her father was a veteran of the Civil war.
Mrs. CRAIL was reared and educated in Fairfield. She was married to B. F. CRAIL, Jr., a well-known local merchant, Dec. 30, 1891. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1930.
Mrs. CRAIL was a member of the First Methodist church and was also affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Margaret CRAIL, Fairfield; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph ANDERSON, and two great grandchildren, all of San Juan, Texas.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Helen CASSAT, and one son, James CRAIL.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home in charge of Dr. L. L. Weis. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
