MARILYN "RUTH" SCHNEIDER
Urbandale

Marilyn "Ruth" SCHNEIDER, age 94, of Urbandale, formerly of Fairfield, passed away April 27, 2021, at Urbandale Health Care Center (note: in Polk Co., IA).

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home, with words of comfort by Tom Cope. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and mailed to Diana SCHNEIDER, 1800 North Walnut Creek Drive, Urbandale, IA 50322.

Ruth was born January 21, 1927, in Fairfield to Glen and Minnie (ARNOLD) CHEZUM. She married Merle C. SCHNEIDER on June 9, 1946, in the Chapel of the United Methodist Church in Fairfield. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before he passed away September 28, 2010.

Ruth worked at Martin's Drug store for 55 plus years and at the age of 85 worked at HyVee giving out food samples until she retired in 2018. Ruth was a member of Faith Baptist church and attended many church activities. While her health allowed, she enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and cooking. Most important to Ruth was spending time with her family and friends.

Ruth will be missed by her children, June Elaine SCHNEIDER of Millersville, MD, Diana Lea SCHNEIDER of Urbandale and Charles "Mike" Michael SCHNEIDER of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren, Cameron SUGDEN and Thomas SUGDEN; three great-grandchildren, Jacob SUGDEN, Tanner SUGDEN and Parker SUGDEN; and her siblings, Betty MOWERY of Rock Island, IL and John CHEZUM of Viola, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Minnie; husband, Merle; one infant daughter, Ruth Louise; one sister, Ema YEOMAN; and three brothers, Harry, Don and Ralph CHEZUM.
