Death of M. P. HARMON. (sic)

M. P. HARMON, resident of Jefferson county for nearly half a century, died at his home in this city yesterday afternoon after an illness of about a week. He was a native of Tennessee, and was born February 10th, 1829. He came to Iowa when a child with his parents, who resided in Cedar township for many years. Forty years ago he was married to Miss Cox who survives him. Mr. HARMON was a man who had many friends among his acquaintainces of a half century in this county, and they will learn of his death with deep regret.

Monpage HARMON, one of the old residents of this county, died at his home in this city Tuesday afternoon at half past two o’clock, after ten days' illness with a disease of the intestines, intussesception. He was born in Tennessee and was 63 years old, having been a resident of this county between forty and fifty years. Mr. HARMON was a good citizen and a man who had many friends. His death will be heard with regret by numerous acquaintances all over the county. The funeral will take place on Thursday, but the hour has not yet been fixed.

Admin note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot SDof17-023. His wife was Keziah Jane COX, who died in 1915 and was buried with him. The surname as it appears on his gravestone is HARMAN.
