Mrs. Anna K. COX, wife of Charles L. COX, died at her home two and one-half miles east of this city on Friday last after a protracted illness. The maiden name of deceased was WINN, and her birth occurred August 15th, 1810, in Barren county, Kentucky. In March, 1833, she was married to E R NORVELL, who died in 1835 (sic - Edmund Moses NORVELL; E. R. is their son), and the result of this marriage was one son, E R NORVELL, who now lives in this county. She removed to Carthage, Ill, in 1839, to Van Buren county in 1840, and in 1841 was married to Charles L COX, who survives her. In 1842 the young people removed to this county, located on the farm where Mrs. COX died and have resided there ever since. Deceased was a woman of many excellent qualities, and she had been a member of the Baptist church of this city since the year 1858. She had been in delicate health for many years and her acquaintance among the rising generation was limited, but among the early settlers of the county she had many warm friends. The funeral occured Saturday, Rev. Howard M. Jones conducting the services, and the remains were interred in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Page 3, Column 3Death of Mrs. COX.--Mrs. Charles COX was born Anna K. WINN Aug. 15, 1810, in Barren county, Kentucky; was married in 1833 to Edward R. Norvell. He died in 1835, leaving one son, Ed R. NORVELL, who lives in this county. Mrs. NORVELL came in 1838 with her brother, Isaac WINN, to Carthage, Ills.; and in 1640 (sic - 1840) to Van Buren county, Iowa, where in 1841 she married Mr. COX. A year later they moved to the farm two and a half miles east of Fairfield, where the remainder of her life was spent. She become a member of the Baptist church in 1858. Her death occurred Friday last, and the funeral services Saturday, conducted by Rev. Mr. Jones. Hers was a life of kindness, and faithful performance of simple duties.
