John H. COPELAND Succumbs At 85

John H. COPELAND, 85, well known Jefferson county farmer, died Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at the Curtis Nursing home after a month's serious illness.

No time has been set for funeral services pending word from a grandson serving with the U. S. Army in Germany. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral home.

COPELAND had been a resident of Jefferson county for 65 years, spending most of that time on his farm five and a half miles northwest of Fairfield.

He was born June 20, 1870 in Hopedale, Ohio, the son of Samuel and Mary E. RAULSTON COPELAND. He was married to Zella B. RIDER, Feb. 8, 1899, in Jefferson county. She preceded her husband in death Jan. 12, 1932.

COPELAND was the last member of a family of seven children. He is survived by two sons, Leroy R. (sic - LeRoy R.) COPELAND and J. Clifford COPELAND, both of Fairfield; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Four sisters and two brothers are deceased.
