E. C. COPELAND (sic) FALLS DEAD IN STORE TODAY

Friends were shocked to learn of the sudden death of E. G. COPELAND which occurred this morning at nine o'clock.

While Mr. COPELAND has been in poor health for some time, his death was unexpected.

A little before nine o'clock this morning Mr. COPELAND went to the White T Store to purchase some groceries; just as he was ready ta (sic - to) leave the store he was stricken with heart failure and died before medical aid could be summoned. Deceased was fifty-one years of age.

Edwin Grant COPELAND, son of John and Mary COPELAND, was born near Libertyville, September 18, 1869.

On September 12, 1901 he united in marriage with Miss May HOUSER of Iowa City. To this union was born one child, Beulah, who is now twelve years of age.

Since June, 1920, Mr. COPELAND has been a member of the real estate firm of Copeland & Kilzer, which is located on the south side of the square. For twenty-five years prior to moving to this city he has been a very successful minister of the gospel and has been pastor in the Methodist church at Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Cresco, Traer and New Hampton.

To say that Mr. COPELAND was a man of strong convictions, upright in all business deals, and respected by all who knew him, is only to speak the truth. Although he has been in this city but a short time, he will be sadly missed.

The sympathy of the whole community goes out to the sorrowing mother and daughter. Besides the wife and daughter, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Samantha PEEBLER of Libertyville and two brothers, Dr. John COPELAND of Delano, California and Will COPELAND of Libertyville.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
