CORALVILLE - Irene L. COOK, 99, of Coralville died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, at Lantern Park Care Center (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
The graveside funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield with the Rev. Peter Drever officiating. Visitation is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service of Coralville and Iowa City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. COOK was born June 2, 1898, near Tiskilwa, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Mary E. RINGENBERG BACHMAN. She received her bachelor of arts degree in home economics and chemistry from the Carthage College in Carthage, Ill., in 1923. She taught school in DuPue (sic - DePue), Ill., for several years.
She married Dr. Kenneth G. COOK on Feb. 22, 1929. The lived in Fairfield for many years. He died in 1965, and in 1977, she moved to Princeton, Ill. Several years ago, she moved to the care center in Coralville. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church; Chapter C, PEO Sisterhood in Fairfield; and TTT.
Her family includes a son Thomas G. of Iowa City; and a grandson. In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
