A letter from Ringgold County announces the death of Mrs. Priscilla Carter, wife of J. D. Carter, in that county, recently. Mrs. Carter was a daughter of John Clinton, who settled just north of this city in 1843. She was married at Keosauqua in June 1845 and removed to Wapello County in the same year.....Mr. Carter was a 49-er and was the first Fairfield to return from the gold country in 1850. Eight children. Methodist Church.
