Gilbert P. Loomis was born Mar. 8 1819 in New York; died Nov 17 1901. In 1833 he with his parents moved to Holmes County, Ohio; in 1839 came to this, where he has since lived. In Oct. 1848 he married Susannah Baird; two sons and one daughter, the latter dying in infancy. One of the sons, Homer, resides in Kansas and was present at the funeral, the other, Ashmun, who recently visited him, resides in South Dakota. His wife died in 1878 and in 1881 he again married Mrs. Phoebe Brown, who survives.....Remains taken to Winchester (Van Buren County?) for burial.
