A. M. MEEKER.
Long Time Resident of this Community. Albert Martin Meeker was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, Apr. 12 1846, and died at his home in Winfield, Iowa, Dec. 19 1922 aged 76-8-7. His early life was spent on the farm with his parents, Abner L. and Electa M. (Nichols) Meeker. He was the eldest of 12 children. Baptist Church. Nov 19 1874 m. Miss Sophie Matilda Gillaspey; she died Jan 26 1904. Eight children. Seven remain. One daughter, Emma, died at the age of 23 years, after becoming the wife of Alvah Bertrum Johnston. Remaining are: William, Anna, Mrs. Clara Johnsen, Bert, Pearl, Martin, and Mrs. Cressie Beauchamp. All live in and near Winfield except Mrs. Beauchamp who resides in Sioux City, Iowa. He also leaves 10 grandchildren: Mrs. Lela Reed and Harvey Johnston of Ewing, Nebr.; Roy and Lester Meeker, Maxine Meeker, Mildred and Leslie Meeker, Wanda Beauchamp, and Elva and Orin Johnsen. Surviving brothers and sisters are George and Mrs. Emma Eveland, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Etta Gillaspey of Argyle, Iowa; Lewis of Omaha, Nebr.; Nelse of Swedesburg, and Alvin of Nebr.....Winfield Cemetery.
