ROSE MARY WORLEY
Washington

Rose Mary WORLEY, age 90, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

A private funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. A visitation with the family present will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery (note: in Washington, Washington Co., IA). A memorial has been established for Paws & More Animal Shelter. Rose Mary was born June 18, 1930, in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Gertrude (GELSKI) FRITZ. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights College and received additional education in business. Rose Mary was united in marriage to Lester L. WORLEY on September 8, 1948, in Washington, Iowa.

Rose Mary worked as the Guidance Counselor Secretary for the Washington Community Schools and as an office manager for several local businesses. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Washington County Democrats and the St. James Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Rose Mary was also a member of the Y Coffee Club and Y Women. She was an excellent homemaker, cook and baker, and she enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by her children, Diane WORLEY of Iowa City, IA; Lester WORLEY and wife Linda of Coralville, IA; LaVon WORLEY and wife Judy of Burlington, IA; Debbie RIVEY and husband Mike of Missoula, MT; Cassie PUDER and husband Jason of Oklahoma City, OK; and Amy PURDY and husband Nate of Olathe, KS; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2009; son, Stephen WORLEY; and siblings: Al, Cliff and Leona.
