LOWELL DUANE STEGALL
Moberly, Mo.

Lowell Duane STEGALL, 90, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was born January 22, 1930, in North Henderson, Illinois, to Leonard and Ethel (ROBBINS) STEGALL. After moving to Iowa, he met the love of his life, Edith Louise FULLER, and on September 1, 1956, they were married. Initially, they lived in Fairfield, then moved to Bonaparte, and later to Birmingham where Lowell farmed for many years.

In addition to farming, Lowell was a lead man at Louden Crane Division of ACCO Industries in Fairfrield, IA. He was an exceptional welder and skilled at building overhead cranes, stackers, and other material handling equipment.

After leaving Louden and selling the farm, he and Edith moved to Moberly, MO, where he founded A-1 Agri Sales and Service on April 1, 1983. He enjoyed solving the challenges farmers faced handling livestock. As a child, Lowell overcame polio, and he developed mobility challenges later in life, which compelled him to design chutes and systems that enabled 1 or 2 people to "work" many livestock with minimal effort.

In 2005, although his daughter, Marla, assumed responsibility for the business and renamed it Stegall Fabrication and Engineering, Lowell continued to help on a regular basis and served as a mentor (sometimes as a mastermind of design).

Lowell is survived by his wife, Edith; four children, Pattie (Gary) COLBY of Jeffersonville, PA, Elaine STEGALL of Kansas City, MO, Duane STEGALL of Huntsville, MO, and Marla (Bronc HOTSENPILLER) STEGALL of Moberly, MO; and 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Robin Colleen APEL; a son-in-law, Charles APEL; and three brothers, Dwight, Robert and Gerald STEGALL.

At his request, there will be no services at this time; however, celebrations of life will be held later in Moberly, MO, and in Birmingham, IA.
