Illness Fatal To Mrs. COLLINS, 84; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Gertrude COLLINS, 84, former Fairfield resident, died today at Mercy hospital in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA). Mrs. COLLINS, who made her home with a daughter, Mrs. L. M. FRYER, suffered a stroke a week ago.

Last rites will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of Dr. S. P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be brought to Fairfield from the Omar Hoskins Funeral home in Brighton.

Mrs. COLLINS was born near Packwood May 2, 1873, the daughter of Silas and Mirinda MONTGOMERY COWEN. She was married to D. C. COLLINS March 1, 1892. They operated a drug store in Packwood and later moved to Fairfield. Mr. COLLINS died in 1923 (sic - 1924).

Mrs. COLLINS is survived by a daughter, Mrs. FRYER, and two sons, Carl COLLINS, Berkeley, Calif., and Dr. Hugh COLLINS, San Francisco, Calif. Seven grandchildren and one brother, James COWEN, Fairfield, also survive. One son is deceased.

Mrs. COLLINS was a member of the Christian church.
