Fairfield Resident Dies Today Following Year's IllnessA. V. COLESON, 78, who has been ill for the past year, passed away this morning about 8 o'clock at his home, 509 East Burlington held Monday afternoon at 2:30 held Monday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock from the Murray funeral home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the Methodist church (sic). Burial will take place in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. COLESON was born August 19,1852 (sic) in Smoland, Sweden and came to America at the age of 15 and settled in Burlington, Iowa where he resided for one year. He then lived in several towns in central Illinois until 1904 when he moved to Fairfield and purchased what is known as the "Coleson Farm" just south of the city. In 1919 he sold the place and purchased his present residence on East Burlington street.
As a young man in Sweden he was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church. after the discontinuance of the Swedish Lutheran services in Fairfield he united with the First Methodist church and has been a faithful member and regular attendant so long as his health permitted.
He was married March 3, 1878 to Miss Anna L. LINDGREN of Varna, Ill. She proceded (sic) him in death in 1920. To them were born the following children, Frank, who died in 1912, Mrs. S. A. SVENDSEN, Elgin, Ill., Maude, Lawrence, Mrs. A. F. JOHNSON, Paul A. and Mrs. Raymond ZEIGLER, all of Fairfield; Emmet R. and Mrs. Harriet CORNWALL of Turtle Lake, Wis. and Bernard D. of South Gate, Calif.

A. V. COLESON FUNERAL
Funeral services for A. V. COLESON were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the Murray Funeral Home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith. The songs, "Nearer, Still Nearer" and "Some Day I'll Understand" sung by Mrs. Frank Pierson and Mrs. M. H. Bryant, were very impressive.
Casket attendants were: Alex Julian, George Workman, W. C. Jones, Ralph Lamson, Henry Swanson and John Engstrang(.) The many tributes to his memory from relatives and friends were shown by the many beautiful flowers.
Relatives out-of-town who attended were: August LINDGREN, Mrs. Carl JOHNSON, Mr. and Mrs. Edward LINDGREN and daughter Lois of Wenona, Ill.; Mrs Jack Wheadon and Margaret Wheadon of Des Moines; Mrs. Axel LINDSTROM and son, Rudolph, of Varna, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. S. A. SWENDSEN of Elgin, Ill.; William and Ed COLESON of Varna, Ill. Also Ralph COLESON of Elgin, Ill., who was reared in the home of the deceased.
He was laid to rest in the family lot at Evergreen cemetery.
A. V. COLESON passed away at his home on East Burlington street Saturday, Jan. 10 after a year's illness.
August Victor COLESON, one of seven children, three brothers and four sisters, was born August 19th 1852 in Smoland, Sweden, came to America at the age of 15 years, settled in Burlington, Iowa where he resided for one year. He afterwards lived in Marshall county, Illinois.
In February 1904 he moved with his family to Fairfield and in Dec. 1919 to the residence on East Burlington street, where the end came after he had attained the age of 78 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Ten children and three grandchildren were reared to maturity in this home: Frank, Laurence, Emmett, Paul Bernard, Mrs. S. A. SWENDSEN, Mrs. Arthur F. JOHNSON, Mrs. W. B. CORNWALL, Mrs. Raymond ZEIGLER and Maude who has lived at home with the father for the past eleven years.
His wife and the oldest son have preceded him in death. Outside of his own family he is mourned by seventeen grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Axel LINDSTROM of Varna, Ill., and Mrs Amanda CARLSON in Sweden.
