FairfieldMarcella Marie ATWATER, 90, of Galesburg, Ill., died peacefully at home with her daughter by her side Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.
Marcella was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony and Bertha Olive (KILBURN) PECK. She married William H. ATWATER. They later divorced.
Marcella is survived by her daughter, Judy D. KRUEGER of Galesburg; two granddaughters, Jennifer WILKES and Kimberley (Justin) MOREFIELD, both of Bloomington; and eight great-grandchildren. Marcella is also survived by three sisters, JoAnn ALLERDICE of Fairfield, Iowa, Shirley MILLER of West Point, Iowa, and Donna KENNEDY of Fairfield, Iowa.
Marcella was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica JONES; four (sic) brothers, Harley, Larry, Harold, Francis and Clifford; and three sisters, Ethel MINEART, Louise REED and Lucille BEVERLIN.
Marcella worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Danville, Iowa, and later worked at Sylvania Electric in Burlington, Iowa. She retired from OMC Gale Products in Galesburg. She was of the Catholic faith. Marcella loved baking, her pies were simply amazing. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, and loved country music and dancing.
Visitation wil be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing, limited occupancy and face masks will be enforced. Private family funeral services will beheld. Private family burial will be in Fairfield, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
