Donald Lee Hoffer, 78, 218 Harlant St., Stockport, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stockport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Renken officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spencer Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 6;30-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society's Relay for Life or Stockport United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hoffer was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Burlington, the son of John W. and Norma Hobbisiefken Hoffer. He married Selma Piersel Aug. 10, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nev.. She died Sept. 18, 1993.

He lived most of his life in Stockport. He graduated from Stockport High School in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 in the Korean War. After the war, he attended aircraft repair school in Tulsa, Okla., and worked for Convair in California.

He was owner and operator of Hoffer's Repair in Stockport. He also worked as a mechanic with Jefferson County Equipment for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church, Stockport American Legion and Stockport Lions Club. He listened to music and sang in the church choir.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Brown and wife Gloria of Stockport; one daughter, Susan Hillgartner and husband Rick of Harlan; special friend, Lois Beswick; one sister, Judy Tomkins of Burlington; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
