Page 3, Column 8Death of Nellie CLARK.
Died, in Fairfield, Iowa, after a lingering illness, Miss Nellie CLARK, aged 27 years, 11 months and 15 days. Nellie was born in Fairfield, being the eldest child of W. M. and Ella CLARK. She was a patient sufferer. Her health was never of the robust kind, and in early years she exhibited strong symptoms of disease; but growing youth drove off for a while the insidious advances of the foul destroyer. After arriving at womanhood the seeds of consumption developed, and for several years before her death she had been an invalid. Always of a retiring and domestic nature she did not mingle with others of her age in the amusements that are so attractive to the young. Her faith in mother and family and friends was deep and strong, and her love for mother who was always the simple trustfulness of the child. She was studious and quiet, and communed much with herself. While not a member of the visible church her religious convictions were earnest and sincere, and she passed from this earth to the home beyond in the full hope of a brighter and more glorious world. The funeral took place from the M. E. church, Rev. M. Bamford officiating, and her remains were laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery by the side of her brother Horace, who was laid to rest two years ago.
