CHARLES--LESSENGER

A few friends gathered at the Brazelton house last evening to witness the marriage of Mr. John H. CHARLES and Miss Laura LESSENGER. Mr. CHARLES is one of our young enterprising business men, well and favorably known in business and social circles. He came to Mt. Pleasand (sic) a stranger about two years ago, but has made many friends, and a warm place for himself in the city. Miss LESSENGER is one of Mt. Pleasants most charming young ladies. She is a near relative of Dr. LESSENGER of Trenton. The ceremony passed off pleasantly, congratulations were offered, kind wishes expressed and the company went to their homes satisfied that both Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES had greatly bettered their condition. Rev. O. W. Rogers performed the ceremony. The News desires to add its name to the list of those wishing Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES a happy journey of life.

Note: It appears plans were changed regarding John's burial. The obituary mentions burial at Pleasant Plain, where first wife Jennie MAHON CHARLES (married 1882; she died 1885) is buried, but John was interred in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield in Lot 1st.024. His second wife, Pricie COWEN CHARLES (married 1889; she died 1890), is buried there with him. John's third wife, Laura LESSENGER CHARLES (married 1892; she died 1944), is buried in Henry Co., IA.
