MRS. CHANDLER DIED YESTERDAY
Was Born In Jefferson County Seventy-Two Years Ago
Lived in Kansas 30 Years

Mrs. Maggie CHANDLER died at Packwood last night at 8 o'clock. The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock at the Methodist church at Packwood, and burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery here. Her death came as the result of cancer, from which she has been suffering for some time.

The decedent was born in Jefferson county, June 27, 1849 and with the exception of about thirty years, when she lived in Kansas, has been a resident of this county. After her husband died some four years ago, she returned to Packwood.

Mrs. CHANDLER had no children of her own, but many years ago she took two girls into her home, whom she reared and cared for as her own. These girls, Mrs. Mary DELLINGER of Pulaski and Mrs. KEFLING (sic - KESLING) of Richland, together with two sisters, Hester LOCKE (sic - LOCK) and Mrs. Jane WOLF, are left to mourn her loss.

She was a life member of the Methodist church and will be buried from this church tomorrow.

... Mrs. Margaret LOCK was the daughter of William and Mary LOCK and was born near Pittsburg, Penn., June 27, 1849. January 1, 1876 she married Montraville CHANDLER. No children were born to this union, but they two nieces, Mary WOLF and Margaret LOCK to raise (sic).

Mrs. CHANDLER has been a life long member of the church and her relation to it has been one of faithfulness consistency and great concern.

There remains to mourn their loss two sisters, Mrs. Jane WOLF and Hester LOCK.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday at 11 o'clock A. M. and were in charge of Rev. Ermil B. Frye. Interment was made in the Fairifeld cemetery.

Mrs. Maggie CHANDLER passed away Tuesday, January 17, at her home here. She was born in Pennsylvania, in 1849, and came with her parents, William and Mary LOCK, to Iowa, when a small child, living on a farm northeast of here. She became a member of the M. E. church when a young lady. She was married to Montie CHANDLER, and they lived on a farm north-west of here, then south-east of here. Then they lived in Kansas until his death a few years ago, returning to Packwood where she made her home. Although she had no children of her own, she had the care of two nieces, Mrs. Mary DELLINGER, of Pulaski, and Mrs. KESLING of near Richland. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jane WOOLF and Miss Esther LOCK, and a host of relatives and friends, who will miss her here in town and at church. Although not being able to attend regular she still kept her faith. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday morning, at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Frye, pastor, and was taken to Fairfield and laid beside her husband. ...

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last will and testament of Maggie CHANDLER, deceased, is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson county, and that February 1, A. D., 1922 at 2 o'clock p.m., it being the 9th day of the January term, 1922 of said court, has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 23rd day of Jany., 1922.
