Fairfield man takes own life

Keith R. CHANDLER, 53, took his own life Thursday afternoon at his home at 906 S. Sixth St. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

Dr. C.F. Watson, county medical examiner, said death was caused by strangulation.

Police said they received a call at 5:26 p.m. from a neighbor.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home and visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m.

CHANDLER was district superintendent of the Michigan Wisconsin Pipe Line Co., a position he had held for the past 11 years.

Keith R. CHANDLER was born March 23, 1925, at Holden, Mo., the son of Roy and Birdie LOVELL CHANDLER. He was married Dec. 5, 1948, to Madolyn M. WORK at Lamoni. She survives.

They moved to Fairfield in August, 1967, to take over his new duties. Previously he had served as district foreman at Lamoni. He had been with with the Michigan Wisconsin firm for 23 years.

CHANDLER was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his widow he is survived by two sons, Virgil, Packwood, and Carl, Fairfield.

Fairfield Lions and Lionels are asked to meet at Behner Funeral home Monday at 1:45 p.m. in order to attend the funeral of Keith CHANDLER at 2 p.m.
