Samuel CASADY (sic) Of Brighton Dies In Washington Hospital

Samuel CASADY (sic - CASSADY) of Brighton, died early Tuesday morning at the Washington county hospital, after a long illness. He was taken to the hospital three weeks ago. He was 72 years of age. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Christian church in Brighton. Rev. J. W. Fillmore will have charge of the services. Burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield.

Mr. CASADY (sic) was born near Perlee, Oct. 10, 1865. In 1887 he married Ida Lake WESTENHAVER. They moved to Brighton in 1901 where he was employed as a railroad bridge carpenter. Mrs. CASADY died in 1925 and he retired in that year. He lived in Jefferson county until he moved to Brighton.

He is survived by two sons, Dale and Ray of Oskaloosa, three daughters, Mrs. Iva ARNOLD of Albia, Mrs. Bernice HOWELL of Washington, and Miss Bonnie CASADY, a teacher at Olds; and two grandchildren.

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.290 with wife Ida. His birth year varies with 1865 being noted in the obituary, 1866 on his gravestone, and 1867 in the 1900 census. His age over three censuses is consistent with an 1866 birth, however.
