ROBERT WAYNE POPE

Robert Wayne POPE, age 78, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke will be officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established for the American Parkinson's disease Association and Paws & More Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent for Robert's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Robert was born February 2, 1942, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Harley and Wilma (JOHNSTON) POPE. He graduated from Stockport High School and attended Kirksville College in Kirksville, Missouri. Robert was united in marriage to Gayle PAGE of Hillsboro, Iowa, in 1963.

Robert worked for the Iowa Highway Commission and retired from Wilson Concrete after 35 years. He spent 15 winters in Mission, Texas where he enjoyed the warm winters, golfing and visiting with friends. Robert enjoyed woodworking and all outdoor activities including fishing and hunting, which he taught his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle POPE of Washington, IA; son, Andrew POPE of FL; son, Monte POPE and wife Malayna and Coleman, sister, Evelyn DANIELSON and husband Bob of Fairfield, IA; brothers-in-law: Gary PAGE of Hillsboro, IA and Jim DICK of Douds, IA; and his little pal, Max.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Howard SMITH; sister, Louise DICK; brother-in-law, Chuck TIMMERMAN; and nephew, Rick TIMMERMAN.
