Edward Earl CARTER, 78, 104 South C street, died at 6:05 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital after a serious illness of two days. He had been in failing health for more than two years.
Services are to be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home in chargeo f the Rev. Ned Gillum. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
CARTER was a retired employ of the Louden Machinery Co. He was born Sept. 15, 1885 in Jefferson county, the son of William D. and Rachel OSBORN CARTER. He was married to Hattie CONNELL Jan. 11, 1911.
CARTER spent his entire life in this county. He was a member of the First Christian church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his wife and one son, Robert CARTER, Davenport. Also surviving are one grandson, one great granddaughter and the following brothers and sisters: Harry CARTER, Burlington; Clifford CARTER, St. Petesburg, Fla.; Mrs. Will RUSSELL, Peoria; and Mrs. Ralph STOUT, Birmingham. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
